Bryce Harper wasn’t feeling participating in the Home Run Derby in Miami on Monday. However, it appears he is having his own version in Cincinnati as the second half of the MLB season got underway on Friday.
Harper put on a mini home run display against the Cincinnati Reds. In the third inning he jumped all over a 2-1 fastball from Reds’ starter Tim Adelman, rocketing the ball deep into the right field seats for a two-run blast. The shot doubled the Washington Nationals’ lead to 4-0.

Harper’s next at-bat came in the fifth inning. He didn’t disappoint, blasting another Adelman fastball this time to center.

Harper’s double take is his 21st and 22nd home runs of the season. Hammering multi home runs in a contest that counts towards the ultimate goal of winning the much elusive World Series is a great consolation for Nationals fans, who may have been disappointed with their star not participating in the Derby.
