The joy of watching your favorite team’s best players in the Mid-Summer Classic should be a proud moment for sports fans. For Washington Nationals fans, they got to witness four of their five players selected start the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, including leading vote-getter Bryce Harper.
Harper was mic’d up during the game. In the fourth inning, he was the subject of an in-game interview with Fox’s Joe Buck. Again, a proud moment for Nationals fans. That is until Harper broke the heart of those same Nationals fans.
As Harper and Buck chatted about the state of MLB, Harper threw a monkey wrench when he asked about Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott.

Harper: I feel like I’m commentating like NFL Network with you right now. How do you think Dak’s gonna be this year?
Buck: I have not met a more impressive young player coming into the NFL in the time I have covered.
Harper: He’s fun to watch. Watching him on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays — him and Zeke, I mean, unbelievable. It’s a lot of fun.
Buck: It is.
Now many Washington Nationals fans are Washington Redskins fans and having their star player praise and awe about the Redskins most hated rivals’ quarterback, is enough to drew their ire.
Yes, we all understand Harper is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He has let it be known quite often during his time in D.C. However, he must understand the city he plays in. Then again there are a lot of bandwagon Cowboys fans in the nation’s capital. The blasphemy.
If Harper did in fact leave the Nationals in free agency after the 2018 season, him being a Cowboys fan along with belting on the Nats will make it easy for D.C. fans to boo him.
