Bryce Harper blazes from first to home to walk-off run vs. Phillies

There was no denying Bryce Harper

On a day in which the Washington Nationals got a rare superb performance from its bullpen,¬†they found themselves in a ball game with the Philadelphia Phillies. Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the night, the Nationals had its 1-2 punch due up. Bryce Harper reached base with a lead-off single. Then one batter later, Daniel Murphy ripped a line drive into the right field corner off Phillies’ reliever Jeanmar Gomez.

The depth of the hit allowed Harper to race from first all the way home for the walk-off run. Murphy was credited with an RBI-double.

Harper blazed around the diamond, losing his helmet in the process. There was no denying him and home plate. As he slid across home for the win, teammate Jayson Werth was there to greet him, piling on him with a congratulatory hug.

Thanks to Murphy’s bat and Harper’s hustle, the Nationals improve to 6-4.
