Coaches always preach to play to the whistle. That saying was never more evident than on Thursday night, as Washington Wizards forward Otto Porter ignored an inadvertent buzzer to bank a three pointer to end the first quarter.
With the final seconds running out on the frame, the 24-second shot clock was not reset from the Indiana Pacers’ previous possession. The shot clock expired and the horn sounded. However, Porter kept his head in the game and running out a curl before banking in his fifth three pointer of the quarter as the game clock buzzer sounded.
Porter’s trey extended the Wizards’ lead to 34-27.
