4-star RB Cordarrian Richardson commits to Maryland from ‘Outer Space’
Maryland gets surprising commitment from 4-star RB Cordarrian Richardson from outer space.

In a surprising move, four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson committed to Maryland. The Memphis, Tenn. native sent his camera — in conjuction with the video and graphics team of Bleacher Report — to outer space.
As his camera exited Earth into space four teams logos appeared in space — Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Maryland. Then the camera fixed itself to show the Terrapins’ logo setting over the horizon.
Richardson did not list Maryland as one of his finalists. Additionally, last month he told Ole Miss recruiting website, there was a “90 percent” chance he would sign with the SEC school. He initially was a verbal commit to Clemson but de-committed in December.
Richardson is rated 18th among running backs in the nation by Rivals. What makes his choice of Maryland more surprising is that Maryland is loaded at running back. Last season their offense featured the freshmen duo of Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison. They also received commitments from four-star all-purpose back Anthony McFarland last week, and commitments from three-star backs Javon Leake and Tayon-Fleet Davis.
Head coach D.J. Durkin will welcome the luxury of trying to configure the talented group. While excitement is running wild through Maryland, it’s good to note Adam Friedman reports that Richardson will have an “uphill battle” to qualify, academically.
