Bucks’ Malcolm Brogdon becomes first rookie to record triple-double this season

Former Virginia standout Malcolm Brogdon records triple-double in his second NBA start

Milwaukee Bucks’ rookie guard Malcolm Brogdon had a career-game on Saturday night, recording 15 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds¬†to become the first rookie this season to record a triple-double.

The former Virginia standout and 2016 ACC Player of the Year was taken 36th overall in the second round by the Bucks. In a draft class that has been mostly disappointing, Brogdon has been a shining light. Saturday against the Bulls, he started in the place of Matthew Dellavedova, who sat out with a hamstring injury. Brogdon played 39 minutes and shot 7-of-13 from the field.

Following Milwaukee’s 116-96 win, the Bucks doused the rookie with bucket full of ice in jubilation.

Brogdon has proved to be the biggest steal of the 2016 draft thus far. Entering Saturday’s games, he was fifth among rookies in scoring with 8.0 points per game. He also led all rookies in three-point shooting percentage at 43.9 percent and was fifth in free throw shooting at 85.7 percent.

As he stays consistent, he could prove to be a huge contributor in Jason Kidd’s rotation moving forward.
