There are still two teams without a win in the NFL. Who will win a game first, the Cleveland Browns (0-8) or the San Francisco 49ers (0-9)?
The 49ers have a golden opportunity to collect their first win on Sunday when they face Eli Manning and the fading New York Giants. The Giants got embarrassed last week at home against the surging Los Angeles Rams. Now, there are rumors of Ben McAdoo’s time in New York may be coming to an end.
Jamies Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have become a joke and a sideshow. They are either eating W’s pregame or giving cheap shots. Everything but win a game. The Cincinnati Bengals cannot get out of their own way. How long will Marvin Lewis and/or Andy Dalton remain in Cincy?
The Houston Texans take a serious tumble 13 spots from last week in the power rankings. It’s clear without Deshaun Watson, wins will be hard to come by. The Indianapolis Colts move up after beating the Texans. But there is still a dark cloud hovering over the organization with the uncertainty of Andrew Luck’s career moving forward. The Los Angeles Chargers are the epitome of how a season can go for a bad team in the NFL. A lot of close losses.
The Green Bay Packers are in trouble without Aaron Rodgers. They’re not in Houston’s boat, because Brett Hundley is a more capable QB than Tom Savage, but they’re in trouble and fading. The Miami Dolphins bounced back after their embarrassing loss on Thursday Night Football in Week 8. However, they still lost in Week 9.
The Baltimore Ravens are in purgatory right now. Not terribly bad, but not good enough to beat the better teams in the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals got a much-needed win over the hapless 49ers last week. The Chicago Bears are arguably one of the best team in the NFL with a losing record. Which is why, it’s still a head scratcher that they moved away from Mike Glennon.
The Brock Osweiler 2.0 era in Denver was exactly what you’d expect. With no answer at QB in sight, the Denver Broncos’ defense seems to have lost patience. The Detroit Lions got a much needed when over the Packers without Aaron Rodgers. Now can they build on that?
The Oakland Raiders finally had a Marshawn Lynch sighting. The New York Jets have four wins. That’s four wins more than many projected. The Atlanta Falcons are losing the games they won last season. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills were hit by Thursday Night Football. Kelvin Benjamin being acclimated into the offense will correct a few of their issues. The Tennessee Titans are a completely different team with Marcus Mariota and its showing.
Blair Walsh wasn’t the sole purpose for the Seattle Seahawks losing in Week 9. But, missing three field goals certainly did not help. The Carolina Panthers got back on track with a win over Atlanta. Carolina has yet to hit its stride and they are 5-3.
The Washington Redskins are the scariest team in the NFL. Sunday’s win over Seattle was a gut-check victory. Washington did not have starting center, left guard, or left tackle along with their top wide receiver being out and their top tight end. Yet, their defense picked up the slack and kept them in the game until QB Kirk Cousins and his wide receivers made plays to win the game on the final drive. They have the tools to make a run, if they get back healthy.
The Minnesota Vikings had a bye week. But, they remained in the news with Sam Bradford going on IR and Teddy Bridgewater being activated from the PUP list. The Kansas City Chiefs have lost some of its steam. They still have some cushion in the AFC West to figure things out and get back on track.
The Dallas Cowboys with Ezekiel Elliott is a tough team to beat, the Kansas City Chiefs learned that last week. The New Orleans Saints are thriving with six straight wins behind a balanced attack offensively and defensively. Rookie CB Marshon Lattimore is locking down opposing top receivers. The Pittsburgh Steelers still seem to be stalling, especially on offense. Yet, they are enjoying another season at the top of the AFC North.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have the most impressive defense in the NFL. They can lock down everywhere. They may be the most talented defensive unit in the NFL. Let’s go ahead and say the Los Angeles Rams had the best off-season addition in the NFL when the team hired Sean McVay as their head coach. There’s a new sense of focus in that locker room.
Same two teams sit atop the NFL Power Rankings. The New England Patriots‘ defense appears to be coming around. Meanwhile, The Philadelphia Eagles may be the most complete team in the NFL. They have an MVP-caliber QB in Carson Wentz and a front seven that dominates.
